I’m slowly continuing work on my conversion of the AD&D Dark Sun setting to the Sword of Cepheus system. I’m currently continuing to add to the Elemental Cleric class. I’m now putting together a list of spells for each type of Elemental Cleric – Fire, Air, Earth, and Water.
Here’s my list of Sword of Cepheus spells for Elemental Clerics who serve Earth. Just as I did for the fire spells, I’ve given each of them two names – one is the standard D&D-style name that can be used a shorthand. The other is a more florid description, designed to give the spells a little more flavor. Many of the new names are referencing beings and places from the Elemental Plane of Earth as described in multiple D&D books.

I’m not entirely finished with this list yet, and haven’t playtested anything yet, so I’m open to any suggestions. Here are all of my previous Dark Sun/Sword of Cepheus posts.
Critical Failures & Mishaps – How the Earth does Rumble
Critical failures (SoC pg 67) for Earth clerics work normally. If a Earth cleric suffers a Mishap, instead of rolling on the Mishap table, assume instead the cleric cannot control the elemental forces and a tremor occurs centered around the caster. The caster takes 1D of damage. Everyone within 15m must roll DEX 8+ to avoid being knocked down and taking 1D of damage. If the cleric is in a cavern or enclosed stone structure, increase all damage to 2D, due to falling debris.

Advanced Pass Without Trace – Sandling’s Blessing
1st Circle
Range: 6m
Duration: 1 hour
Like Pass Without Trace, but applies to individuals in a 6m radius.
Buried Alive – Cradle of Sunnis
4th Circle
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 day
While buried in earth or stone, the target can remain alive in a state of suspended animation. After the day, if not unearthed, they will quickly perish.
Conjure Earth Elemental
5th Circle
Range: 75m
Duration: Special
Can summon one earth elemental (SOC pg 104) per day. The cleric must maintain concentration or the elemental will go on a rampage attacking everyone in its path.
Find Path – Geb’s Blessing
3rd Circle
Range: 5km
Duration: 2 hours
In a cavern or rocky maze, the cleric can unerringly find her way to any desired destination.
The Earth Speaks
3rd Circle
Range: 50m
Duration: 15 minutes
Find a specific item buried or hidden in the earth. The cleric doesn’t need to have seen the item, she just needs a vague description.
Echolost
4th Circle
Range: Varies
Duration: 5 minutes
In canyons, or large caves, or any place where sounds can echo on stone, a cleric can speak to the walls and recall the echo of any sound that has occurred in the last year. For example, a cleric can recover the sound of a conversation that happened in a canyon last week. They cleric doesn’t need to know the specific time, they just need a description of the being or beings that created the sound. The range is only limited to the size of the canyon or cavern.
Find Metal – Nose of the Xorn
2nd Circle
Range: 8 meters
Duration: 15 minutes
The cleric can smell any precious metal or mineral (gems included) up to 8m away. Even things buried or encased in rock will be detected.
Fist of Stone – Hands of Grumbar
1st Circle
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 minute (10 rounds)
Caster’s fists become hard as stone and can be used as weapons – 2D damage. The fingers will be stiff and no longer capable of any fine manipulation while the spell is active.
Pass Without Trace – Path of the Sandling
1st Circle
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 hour
The caster or target of spell can travel over land and leave no trail in dirt or sand.
Seismic Speech
1st Circle
Range: 20km
Duration: 10 minutes
Can speak to other Earth Elemental clerics over great distances though vibrations in Athas’ crust. Only other Earth clerics can receive these messages.
Skin of Stone
2nd Circle
Range: Touch
Duration: 1 minute (10 rounds)
Can harden humanoid skin to give 6 points of protection. Target will only have half movement speed.
Soften Earth and Stone
2nd Circle
Range: 8m
Duration: Permanent
All earth or stone in area is softened. Wet earth becomes mud, Dry earth becomes loose earth or sand, stone becomes clay.
Song of the Sands – Ears of the Sandling
1st Circle
Range: varies
Duration: 5 minutes
By pressing her ear to the ground, the cleric can detect the movement of other creatures at a distance. They can roughly estimate the size, number, and direction of creatures. The range of the spell is 2 km on stone, 1 km on hard earth, .5 km on sand or loose earth.. This spell will not work in silt.

Can shape 1 m of stone into another simple shape.
Stony Grasp – Grip of Geb
3rd Circle
Range: 15m
Duration: 1 minute (10 rounds)
A hand of stone bursts from earth to snare target. Target can only escape with a STR 10+ roll.
Wall of Stone – Walls of Stonemire
5th Circle
Range: 10m
Duration: Permanent
Can create a wall of granite with up to 8 square meters surface area, and up to two inches or (5 cm) thickness.
